"Nonchalance"

Nonchalance sits on the inner end of the bus seat and leans that bed-head of hers against the window. With her earphones on, she shuts her eyes and just like that the world doesn't matter anymore. She is intriguing and attractive, and that is a lethal combination.

Oh, but you should know that Nonchalance is a shapeshifter. There are plenty of them around. You just need to be more observant, in which case, you certainly wouldn't be one of them.

Nonchalance is that guy in your class with that half-smile, who girls swoon over. He sits with a slouch, twirling his pen and hardly speaks in class (which is such a waste because god bless that raspy voice). He annoys you, but you secretly wish you could be half as cool.

Nonchalance is your next-door neighbour - single, cold and intimidating. Despite the brief encounters at the lift, his effortlessness makes you anxious. You think he is rich and smug but you will never know how he truly is. Attempting to start a conversation just seems pathetic, but really, all you've ever wanted to ask is: what is your job???

I wish I could be nonchalant. Even if I tried, it never lasts (though I enjoy it while it lasts). I worry too much to be nonchalant. It's strange how the definition of nonchalant has a negative connotation, yet nonchalance is portrayed to be desirable. Well, I guess everyone doesn't want to care because life seems easier when you don't care. Apparently it's cool to not care and be disinterested and I wonder what you think about that.
